ATHENS SEES LARGER ROLE IN MIDEAST PEACE PROCESS

Bellow is a piece published by Defense News back in 2002. The article primarily reports on the speech delivered by Antonia L. Dimou, then Middle East Studies Coordinator at the Greek Ministry of Defense's Defense Analysis Institute in the context of the Special Operation Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) organized under the patronage of King Abdallah II by Jordan's Armed Forces, Defense News and INEGMA.

The New Middle East

The Center for Strategic Studies/ University of Jordan and the Carnegie Endowmentfor International Peace released a report entitled “The New Middle East. As disclosed, the first step toward the formulation of a new policy is to understand the realities of the New Middle East as it is now. The three clusters of countries Iran-Iraq, Lebanon-Syria, Palestine-Israel, and three critical, cross-cutting issues - nuclear proliferation, sectarianism, the challenge of political reform - define the new Middle East.
